But the scientist knows how to use this to his advantage...。本剧改编自Dolly Alderton的同名畅销回忆录，聚焦两个童年密友，Maggie (Emma Appleton饰)和Birdy (Bel Powley饰)。故事以2012年伦敦的合租房为背景，混合对21世纪初郊区青春期的回忆，毫不掩饰地深入探讨了糟糕的约会、心痛和羞辱。。成長於80年代的阿富汗，街童本來以賣黃牛戲票為生。被送到孤兒院後，自由自在的生活頓時變得複雜，但遇上三位投契的室友卻令人生添上不少色彩。少年們幻想自己身處波里活歌舞片的情節中，一邊唱歌跳舞，一邊把壞蛋打到落花流水。孤兒們更有機會遠渡蘇聯，參加夏令營。雖然要接受愛黨教育，但眾人亦在旅程中體驗少年的成長味。可是，殘酷的現實很快便追上不幸的孩子。也許活在蘇聯的統治下，並不是最壞的景況。但要在亂世中勇敢生存，又談何容易？。
