该剧根据真实故事改编，讲述了川妹子阿霞被表哥卖到一个贫穷落后的山村农民家里当媳妇，在经历逃跑受伤被救后，她决定留下来，并把自己会编织柳筐的手艺教给大家，带领大家致富的故事。。以移民的身份在美国居住15年后，阿扎回到了吉尔吉斯斯坦的家乡。一年前父亲穆拉特在美国去世，他临终的愿望是把欠家乡村民的钱还清。如今，家乡的祖屋已被遗弃，一片荒芜；巧罗因为哥哥穆拉特的牵连曾经入狱，心怀愤懑，至今不愿意原谅他们一家。尽管大多数村民都不喜欢阿扎，他还是决定要替父亲将遗愿实现。。The film opens with a narrated disclaimer over footage of an opening coffin.
