无边的戈壁滩上，欠下高利贷的二勇（王学兵 饰）意外与来历不明的孩子尕娃（朱耕佑 饰）踏上了一段凶险的追妻之旅，笔直又狭长的公路上，二勇和尕娃与忧郁暴躁的女卡车司机小眉（马伊琍 饰）相遇，三个性格迥异的人因故临时结伴而行，在穿越戈壁的三天两夜里，三个孤独的人度过了一段恍若家人的时光。随着旅途的继续，他们邂逅的人和遭遇的事，使得每个人命运发生了重大改变，人的命，路的头，在苍茫天地之下都变得微不足道……。Speedy" loses his job as a soda-jerk, then spends the day with his girl at Coney Island. He then becomes a cab driver and delivers Babe Ruth to Yankee Stadium, where he stays to see the game.
